山屋本店の外観写真山屋製パン（有）は、創業年１９３１年(昭和６年）創業、東京都大田区北千束で（故 山本 芳雄）がパン店として開業。芳雄は青森県弘前市の出身で、津軽藩の御用問屋の家系に生まれました。東京の「帝国ホテルベーカリー部」や数店のパン屋で修行の末の開業でした。開業後は日華事変、太平洋戦争などに徴兵され３度に渡り戦争に召集され、やむなく閉店する日々もありましたが、其の都度無事帰還しパン店を再会、妻である（ミエ）は、幼い子供をかかえ店を守りました。しかしアメリカ軍による、東京空襲で店は焼失してしまい、石川県羽咋市に疎開しました。ミエは、小麦粉、卵、塩、酵母があれば、子供達の飢えがしのげるのにと、物資の不足を恨みました。そんな或る日芳雄は、長期に渡る「シベリア抑留」から帰還し家族と再会しました。その後、ミエの実家がある北海道札幌市の兄の紹介で、当時「三井東洋高圧」「三井上砂川抗」などの産業で栄える現在の北海道砂川市に移住し、パン卸業から商売を再会し現在に至っています。
